Quality teeth implants for long-lasting results
Designed to fill gaps left by missing or extremely damaged teeth, dental implants can restore uniformity to the mouth and help with associated functional conditions. The prosthetic teeth are implanted into the gum using titanium materials, which acts as a stable root for your new tooth. They’re a popular choice when the tooth is damaged past the point of restoration from same day crowns or a crown or onlay, and create a natural appearance that can be permanent when properly cared for.
Are you a good candidate?
We offer a range of teeth implants in our Melbourne studio, including conventional dental implants, immediate implants and bone grafts for dental implants if necessary. We can determine if you’re a good candidate for any of our restorative treatments following an initial consultation, X-rays and oral examination.

Types of dental implants
There are many different types of dental implants that you may be eligible for in the case of permanently replacing a lost tooth. Your dentist or oral surgeon will determine which one will best suit your requirements, based on your general health, gum tissue, and whether you have enough healthy bone in your jaw.
Endosteal implants are the most common type of dental implant, and are set in the jawbone. Typically made of titanium and usually shaped like small screws, endosteal implants protrude through the gum to secure the replacement tooth. Keep in mind that surgery will be required to perform the implant as it involves drilling a hole into your jawbone to fit the screw. For this reason, you’ll need to commit to several months of recovery time for you to heal and complete the full procedure.
If you require dental implants but don’t have enough healthy jawbone to support them, your dentist may recommend subperiosteal implants. While not as common as endosteal implants, this procedure is carried out regularly among patients. Subperiosteal implants rest on top of your jawbone and under your gum tissue via a metal framework.
If you have one or multiple teeth that you wish to replace, a standard dental implant can be carried out. A single tooth can be replaced by a dental implant but if you have more than one tooth that needs replacing, you will need larger implants to support your teeth. Some patients may opt to replace their entire mouth (a major restoration), or the teeth on the upper or lower jaw (partial restoration).
Fixed bridgework is a popular technique that replaces missing teeth. As the name suggests, the bridge will be “fixed” to your teeth and cannot be removed. Unlike standard bridges, fixed bridgework isn’t dependent on the support of your remaining teeth.
With emerging technology, dentures are no longer the traditional ‘false teeth’ that can be removed every evening before bed. Now, they can be implant-supported to deliver a more permanent and secure fastening using special attachments to reduce movement. Dentures can be made to closely resemble your original smile or they can be designed to give you a smile makeover. If you have enough healthy bone in your jaw to support implants, then you may be a candidate for implant-supported dentures.
Ideal for dental emergencies and teeth lost during trauma, temporary dental implants are used when your mouth, gum and bone need time to heal before a permanent dental implant is inserted. While your mouth is healing, a temporary dental implant can give you back your confidence.
Full mouth dental implants
Full mouth dental implants, also known as “full arch dental implants” are an option to consider if you are tired of the pain from dentures. Using advanced surgical techniques and a high quality implant system, they are a permanent solution when you wish to replace missing, broken or damaged teeth. Usually only 4-6 implants are required to support all the lower or upper teeth, and bone grafting is not needed.
A popular option due to it being a less invasive procedure with a faster recovery time, full mouth dental implants are a possibility for previously unsuitable candidates of conventional dental implants.
Full mouth dental implants are designed to be a permanent solution, and with good oral hygiene, can last a lifetime.

Single tooth mini dental implants
For patients looking for a more affordable option than traditional dental implants, single tooth mini dental implants can be an appealing and long-lasting solution for people who are missing a tooth or teeth due to decay, damage or trauma. In comparison to conventional implants, mini dental implants are less invasive and painful to install, and don’t involve bone grafts or repeat surgeries. They are a single solid piece (3mm diameter) that is fixed to your jawbone without needing to be completely embedded. Resembling a similar structure to standard dental implants, their small size makes them ideal in place of bridges, dentures or fixed crowns.
Dental implant procedure
The dental implant procedure, while commonly performed, is quite complex and takes many months from start to end. There are several steps along the way that must be undertaken before you can enjoy your new smile.
Comprehensive dental exam
Bone grafting
Planting the dental implant
Osseointegration
Placing the abutment
Choosing your new teeth
Dental implant cost in Australia
All on 4 dental implants cost
All-on-4 dental implants are designed to stand the test of time. While your implant posts shouldn’t be replaced, your dentures may experience wear and tear. All of this is factored into consideration when it comes to the cost of all-on-4 dental implants. As a rough guide, you should be prepared to spend around $25,000 per arch, on average. Your preferred dentist can provide you with a more accurate quote as well as payment plan options.
The cost of full mouth dental implants
The average price of full mouth dental implants in Australia is between $20,000 - $30,000. As this type of procedure is considered cosmetic due to the obvious impact they have on how your smile looks, it is not covered by Medicare. Toorak Dental Studio offers payment plan options should you require some assistance.

Caring for your dental implants
Just like your natural teeth, your dental implants will require regular maintenance to ensure optimal oral health and hygiene. Even though they are strong and secure, it doesn’t mean that you can neglect them. After all, dental implants are only permanent if you take good care of them.
Some of the ways you can practice good oral hygiene include:
- Brushing your teeth twice daily with a low abrasive toothpaste
- Flossing daily
- Using mouthwash to help eliminate bacteria building up around your implants
- Limiting citrus fruits, such as oranges, lemons, and mandarins
- Limiting intake of tea, coffee, wine and soft drink
- Keeping chewy and sugary foods to a minimum
- Avoiding tobacco entirely
- Visiting your dentist for regular check ups twice a year
Dental Implants FAQ
Traditionally, the installation of dental implants is a multiple-step process that takes place over the course of a couple of weeks. Most patients can expect a process similar to this one:
- An oral examination that assesses bone density and space in the mouth
- Checking that the surrounding gums are healthy and preparing the area where the tooth is missing
- The titanium screw is inserted
- A healing cap is placed on the screw for a number of weeks, while the dental crown is prepared
- Once the tailored crown is sent by the laboratory (approximately a two-week process), it can replace the healing cap
Some dentists offer one-day implants, though there are some risks associated with these. Make an appointment with your dental professional to find out if you’re a good candidate.
Not all insurance policies cover dental implants, but if you have an extras policy that includes major dental work, then you may be able to offset some of the cost of dental implants by making a claim.
Check with your insurer before having any kind of dental work done to find out what the terms and conditions are, and what you can expect to pay out-of-pocket.
Dental implants are a type of restorative technique, but aren’t covered by a particular field of specialism, meaning that a general dentist can carry them out.
Always seek qualified dentists with the appropriate accreditations to ensure you’re receiving the highest levels of care and results. More complex cases - such as bite complications, depleted bones and multiple missing teeth - may require the attention of a specialist. We work closely with the top specialists in Melbourne to help you achieve the best results.

My day renewing my veneers was a pleasure, the staff were so considerate of my experience with a lovely private room, lunch and pampering that made my day so relaxing. Should have brought my Ugg boots. S. Nicholls2025-05-12Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Thankyou for the wonderful smile results, re-aligning my teeth and replacing my 20 year old bridges with new ceramic porcelain bridges. Throughout the process I was treated with care and kindness by the whole team. Dr Julie had great vision and has created a much improved smile with the technical brilliance of Julianna and assisted brilliantly by Jess, and with the helpful front desk and smiling faces of Bri and Elaine. On the 'whole day appointment' between sessions I was treated to lunch from a local cafe and a lovely massage and pedicure by Dana. Dana was outstanding. Emily also did a great job improving the colour, thankyou. The studio is calming, clean and professional. Whilst the lower teeth continue the invisalign process, I'm thrilled with the outcome of the top and how the smile looks now. I hope I haven't missed anyone, as the whole team were amazing to deal with and everyone I interacted with were kind, friendly, professional and supportive. Highly recommend. From the moment I walked into the office, I felt welcomed and at ease. The atmosphere is warm, professional, and modern, which made me instantly comfortable. Dr. Julie is not only highly skilled but also takes the time to explain everything in detail, which shows her genuine care for her patients. She doesn’t just rush through appointments; she listens, provides options, and works with you to create a plan that’s best for your needs. The staff are incredibly friendly, attentive, and make every visit feel personal. Dr Julie is the most Professional Dentist I have seen and met. Emily is also wonderful, She is gentle, thorough, her attention to detail is impressive, and she’s always happy to answer any questions I have. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a dentist who combines expertise with compassionate care! Thank you, Dr. Julie and team, for making every visit a great experience! Vivien Leong2025-03-16Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I did my crown with another dentist which he did a very bad job, the dentist who did my crown did not bother to check after or at least be a listener! I went back twice about the pain. He told me it could take sometime to settle, telling me to give it more time. A year later, I still feel the pain whenever I eat?? I gave up and went to another dentist. Now, at Toorak Dental Studio, Dr Julie checked, X-ray, and she found the problem. My crown wasn't "placed" properly, that's a gap between my crown and tooth which is why I have the pain over the year. Anyhow, she fixed my problem within a day. The crown had to be replaced, I don't have to wait for weeks (no temporary crown, the clinic can do a 3D crown within the day). I stop going to my old dentist and I decided to give this new dental clinic a try, I did my 1st hygenic checked which I had a little gum issues, the hygenist was friendly and attend to my problems patiently. I also had some tooths sealing and a tooth filling with Dr Julie recently. I'm like most people, dentist and pain is a nightmare to me, but she did a great job..
